1. The Jo-Anne Duggan Prize for the best publication by a postgraduate student or an early career researcher in the field of Italian Studies, published between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020. (Please note this is a revisioning of the former prize of this name.)
This prize honours a champion of Italian Studies in Australasia whose written and artistic oeuvre made a distinguished contribution to ACIS and the broader community. Duggan’s life was cut short prematurely, and for this reason we honour her name with this new biennial award for a publication by a postgraduate or early career researcher in Italian Studies broadly defined.
2. The ACIS Publication Prize for the best publication by an Established Scholar in the field of Italian Studies. This prize is awarded for peer-reviewed research published between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020. The research must have made a significant contribution to knowledge in the field of Italian Studies, broadly defined.
Terms and Conditions for both prizes as well as the application cover sheet are available on the ACIS main website under Awards.
Winners will each receive a prize of $2,000 (AUD) and an official certificate.
Winners of both prizes will be formally announced at the ACIS Biennial Conference to be held in Perth in 2022 and will be personally notified beforehand. Winners are encouraged to present a paper based on their award-winning publication and/or its ongoing research at this conference. For awardees living interstate or overseas from the location of the conference, a contribution of $1,000 (AUD) will be made for travel costs to attend the conference to receive their award and present their research.
Applications for both prizes close at 5pm AEST on Friday 5 November 2021
